Position or
The complexity of Sino-Japanese conflict is far beyond state-to-state
relations. It is not only the relations between neighbors, but also the
relations between big powers; it is not only "East and West"
relationship, but also the "North and South" relationship; it is both
the dual relationship between war and peace in history, as well as the dual
relationship between interdependence and competition in reality. The problem
left over by history, mainly the war between China and Japan has made both
sides reinforce their position in sovereignty and territory integrity in the
interaction between these two countries. However, common interests of the two
countries are important for themselves and for the security and stability of
the region. How to back from the position to the interest remains a challenge
for these two countries, which is crucial for peace in the region. A more
long-term vision and more strategic perspective, as well as the responsibility
as big powers, are needed for these two countries. Neither of them can change
history but they can make a different future.
